Volunteering with RFM
Join us in administration or in a local fire group
In a non-profit like RFM, volunteers are the backbone of the organisation. Without help, we would be unsuccessful in the running of our organisation and fall short of achieving many of our objectives. Your support is what keeps us operating.
Two Pathways
Local Preliminary Responder (Fire Group)
As a local group member, you are added to a register and will be connected with members in your local area. These groups do the following:
1) Assist each other with pooling resources for fire protection;
2) Assist each other with hazard reduction burns and clearing of vegetation;
3) Share RFM provided fire equipment; and
4) Temporarily assist each other in the event fires where local fire brigades are absent.
RFM Administration Officer
In an administration role, you are free to assist RFM however you feel like will allow you to contribute most — that’s what we will ask you before you join. You’re also free to choose how much time you dedicate to us.
There are three main areas you may pick from:
1) Day-to-day administration
Ranging from secretarial support to posting/delivering equipment.
2) Special project work
People will special skills/qualifications are encouraged to assist or lead projects that will help deliver our mission.
3) Fundraising and community events
RFM runs mostly on the generosity of the community. Volunteers in this area make people aware of the inadequate fire coverage in rural areas and encourage people to donate to RFM to close to gap.
